BACKGROUND
With the participation and recommendations from various sections of our community, the Temple Committee has been established to fulfill a long-felt need of the ever-growing Hindu community in Indiana for a place of worship and spiritual enrichment. The time is deemed ripe to build a temple for the Hindu community. Your Temple Committee has set the following mission and goals.
MISSION
- Build a temple with the broad-based needs of the community in mind
- Provide various religious services and create a focus for spiritual enrichment
- Promote educational and cultural opportunities for children
GOALS
- Unite the entire Hindu community of Indiana and neighboring regions and build a place of worship and learning that meets the religious, cultural and educational needs
- Set up appropriate committees for building and operation of the temple
- Provide a forum for inter-religious understanding and Community welfare
- Complete the initial phase of construction, install panchaloha deities, complete Kumbhabhishekam by 2005. Estimated cost of Phase I construction is $1.3 million; estimated cost of Phase II construction is $5 million.
